Are you eating your way out of beauty? We talk about certain foods that have the ability to prevent diseases, or give you stronger bones and make your skin glow effortlessly, but what about the foods that are doing the opposite?
Surely if eating certain foods can help improve all aspects of your life and make you look beautiful, eating others can have the opposite effect and make us look ugly, feel miserable and breakout.
Here are the foods that we need to stay away from as much as possible, the foods that don’t make us glow, the foods that lead to breakouts, acne and the foods that leave us with horrific blemishes and hard to get rid of scarring.
Growing up I always heard that too much sugar wasn’t good for you, and now I know why. Those annoying random breakouts are a result, studies have shown there may be a link between the two. Consuming too much sugar in a day is likely to spike your blood sugar and cause you to break out hours later.
I’m sure we all know greasy fast food isn’t good for us at all, especially not our skin. Fried food creates inflammation in the body, which leads to pimples, so if you’re going to a fast-food restaurant, turn right back around and replace that burger with a salad.
Milk may be excellent for growing boys and girls but not so much when they are fully grown. Milk can be full of growth hormones, and studies have shown that these hormones make their way into our blood stream and spike insulin levels, causing inflammation, and increase oil production resulting in a serious category 5 breakout.
We all know juices and soft drinks are packed with sugar, which as stated earlier is a huge cause of breakouts. But it is actually the absence of fibre in the drinks that does the real damage; fibre is essential for preventing blood sugar swings that cause skin to prematurely age. So to keep your skin looking young and fresh, make sure you put down the soft drinks and juices and pick up some water.
Soy may be good for many things, but keeping your skin clear is not one of those things. If you find yourself breaking out around the mouth or jawline, tofu and other soy foods may be the cause. The natural oestrogen levels found in soybeans throw off our hormone levels, causing to our skin be thrown into breakout central.
These foods wreak havoc on a nice skin complexion; they break down quickly in the body and trigger hormonal fluctuations and inflammation due to the increase in blood sugar levels. So the next time you are in the supermarket steer clear of white bread, white rice, potato chips, cookies, cakes and sweets. Aim for foods on the low glycaemic index such as vegetables, brown rice, brown pasta, sweet potatoes and most fruits.
Wheat causes inflammation, and to get rid of acne, inflammation needs to be reduced in the body. So avoid baguettes, croissants and anything containing wheat to help prevent your acne breakouts.
Yes, everyone’s favourite go too problem solver could be causing your breakouts, the type you ingest with food and apply topically are both the culprit. Coconut oil clogs pores around the mouth; it also creates inflammation typically on the cheeks and along the jawline.
So to become the face of fitness you want, make sure you stay away from these foods to stop Eating Your Way Out of Beauty
