It’s been a gruelling year, blood, sweat and tears. Countless party invite refusals, denying yourself cake on your birthday, not indulging as you should do on Christmas Day, and the pounding headaches that came from granny quarrelling with you about not eating her food. But the day is finally here! You have reached your goal, and you couldn’t be happier.
What an achievement! But how do you celebrate? Have cake? Go out to a party? Go full your belly at grandmas house?
When people finally reach their goal they often find themselves in a state of limbo, not knowing what to do. You had a clear-cut course for your fitness journey and now that it has been reached, it begs the questions, ‘What’s next?’
Was all that year of pain, torture and sacrifice going to be for nothing now that you are where you want to be? Do you eat as you please now that you’ve attained your goal?
You know you don’t want to go back to how you were; 20 lbs heavier and incredibly out of shape. Nor do you have any desire to become the next body builder fitness model. So what other options are there, other than going back to how you were at the start of your fitness journey- unhappy and unhealthy?
Worry no longer, those aren’t your only options- there is a whole world of fitness out there that falls in-between the spectrum of overweight and body builder.
If you are happy with where you are currently and have no desire to try anything new then you can simply maintain your current status by keeping active but not at the same intensity. However if you’ve gotten bitten by the exercise bug and are itching worse that an addict for something new, then all you need to do is find a new goal.
Personally I would recommend finding a new goal- you may be at your desired weight now, but what about things like how many push ups/pull ups you can achieve, or running that 5k instead of walking. The great thing about fitness is that there is so much variety; you can go from focusing on gaining an extra inch on you bicep to improving your stamina and agility. There is a whole untouched world out there to discover when it comes to your health and fitness and it’s time to explore.
Becomes the face of fitness you’ve always wanted and find out what’s next for you.
