Not technically a super fruit but I am officially dubbing ‘The Mango’ Faceoffitness’s super fruit of 2016. That may be a hard title to live up to- especially so early on in the year; but the mango is truly incredible, I’m not even sure where to begin.
The mango has been shown to have antioxidant compounds that help prevent against certain cancers (colon, breast, leukaemia and prostate cancers). The mango isn’t just a life saver but it also helps with cholesterol levels, due to the high fibre content, pectin and vitamin C that the mango contains, it helps to lower the bad levels of cholesterol in the body, helping to keep your circulatory system in check.
It is not just the fruit that gives amazing benefits to the body, the leaves also help normalize insulin levels in the blood, and the mango itself has a relatively low glycaemic index so moderate quantities will not spike your sugar levels. With high levels of vitamin C this ‘super fruit’ also helps to boost your immune system to help keep you fit and healthy throughout the year 2016.
